Frick'n Sweeds

I can't believe that the US Men's National team lost to Sweden. After playing so well in the Gold Cup, especially against Mexico, they can't get it back together.
Where is the aggressive play that characterized this team early on?

Where was Donovan?
Where was Clint Dempsey?
Where were the mid-fielders who were supposed to support them.
They could have beat this team.

After four straight losses this team needs to find themselves or Brazil will really take it to them. Bradley needs to make some changes.

They're calling the US vs. Brazil match the "Clash of Champions". The way they've been playing it will be more like "Flash of Champion" as the Brazilians score one goal after another.

  1. I only got to watch the highlights of this one, FC Pitch. But it looks like our boys still can't manage a win on the European continent. It's like we get psyched out playing there. I can imagine it's a very intense atmosphere on game day. Having watched the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkl & the UK's Prime Minister Gordon Brown show up for the England/Germany friendly at Wembley Stadium, you can imagine that can take the pressure up a couple of notches.

More matches like the one we have coming up against Brazil will be key in preparing for World Cup qualifiers. (And thankfully, the next World Cup takes place somewhere besides Europe!)

By the way, welcome aboard the Soccer-Point blog!

  2. On another matter, I put it an e-mail to USSoccerdotcom to request that they allow embedding of their YouTube videos. Don't they have any appreciation of the concept of "viral videos"? Very cool video that you linked in the post. I just wish I didn't have to open up a new tab or window to watch it. Not a huge complaint, I know. But surely they're not concerned about some intellectual property matters here are they? Rookies.
